St Johns Wood Carpet Cleaners Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which St Johns Wood Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial cleaning services to customers in the UK. By making a booking, the customer agrees to these terms in full. These terms are intended to create a fair, clear and practical agreement covering the booking process, payments, cancellations, liability, waste handling and the legal framework that applies to our services. They should be read carefully before any appointment is confirmed.
For the purposes of these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to St Johns Wood Carpet Cleaners, and “you” or “the customer” refers to the person requesting and paying for the service. These terms apply to all carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, stain treatment and related services, unless we agree otherwise in writing. We may update these terms from time to time, and the version in force at the time of booking will apply to your order.
Our service is designed to provide professional cleaning using suitable products, modern equipment and reasonable care. However, results may vary depending on the age, condition and fibre type of the carpet or fabric, the extent of soiling, previous cleaning attempts and pre-existing damage. No cleaning company can guarantee complete removal of every stain, odour or mark. By booking a carpet cleaning service in St Johns Wood, you acknowledge that some imperfections may remain after treatment even when the service has been carried out properly.
Booking Process
Bookings may be made by phone, email, online form or any other method we make available. A booking is only accepted when we have confirmed the appointment date, approximate arrival time, scope of work and any quoted price or pricing basis. Until we issue confirmation, any request is treated as an enquiry only. We may decline or reschedule a booking if we believe the requested service is unsuitable, unsafe or impractical.
When booking St Johns Wood carpet cleaners, you must provide accurate information about the property, access arrangements, parking, the type of carpet or fabric, visible stains, previous treatments, pets, hazards and any special requirements. If the information you supply is incomplete or incorrect, the final price, duration of service or outcome may be affected. We are entitled to adjust the quote if, on arrival, the actual conditions differ materially from what was described when the booking was made.
You are responsible for ensuring that the area to be cleaned is reasonably accessible and ready for service. This normally includes moving fragile items, securing valuables, disconnecting sensitive equipment where appropriate and making sure that there is a safe working environment. Where heavy furniture must be moved, this must be agreed in advance. We may refuse to move items that are unsafe, excessively heavy or likely to cause damage. Any delays caused by lack of access, parking restrictions, building rules or poor preparation may be charged as waiting time or reflected in the final invoice.
Payments and Charges
Our prices may be provided as fixed rates, estimated rates or hourly rates depending on the nature of the work. Quotes are based on the information available at the time and may change if the scope of the service changes. Any additional work requested on the day, such as extra stain treatments, cleaning of additional rooms, or treatment of heavily soiled areas, may incur extra charges. We will normally explain any material price change before proceeding.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due immediately on completion of the service. We may require a deposit for larger jobs, for repeat cancellations, for premium bookings or for appointments made at short notice. Accepted payment methods may include bank transfer, card payment, cash or other methods stated at the time of booking. If an invoice is issued, the payment deadline shown on the invoice will apply. Late payment may result in recovery action and any reasonable costs of collection, to the extent permitted by law.
All prices are stated in pounds sterling and, where applicable, may include or exclude VAT depending on our business status and the way the quote is presented. If VAT is chargeable, it will be shown clearly where required. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors, obvious typographical mistakes and misquoted services where the error is apparent. Any promotional offer or discount applies only during the stated period and only to the services specified in the offer.
Cancellations, Rescheduling and Non-Attendance
You may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving reasonable notice. The amount of notice required may vary depending on the size and urgency of the appointment, but as a general rule we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel with less notice, we may charge a cancellation fee to cover lost time, administration and any costs already incurred. If a deposit has been paid, it may be retained in part or in full where permitted and proportionate.
We may also need to reschedule or cancel an appointment due to staff illness, transport disruption, extreme weather, equipment failure, unsafe conditions, access issues, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. In such cases, we will aim to offer an alternative appointment. We are not responsible for indirect loss caused by a rescheduled visit, provided we act reasonably and communicate the change as soon as practicable. Our carpet cleaners in St Johns Wood will always try to complete work at the earliest suitable time available.
If we arrive at the property and cannot gain access, or if the customer is not present where attendance is required, we may treat the booking as a late cancellation or a wasted appointment and charge accordingly. If you are likely to be delayed, you should notify us as early as possible. Where waiting time is excessive, we may need to leave and the full or part cost of the booking may still be payable.
Service Standards and Customer Responsibilities
We will use reasonable skill and care when carrying out the service and will aim to clean to a professional standard appropriate to the condition of the items and the method selected. The customer must disclose any known fragility, shrinkage risk, dye instability, previous cleaning history, underlay issues, hidden damage or damp concerns before work begins. Some materials are delicate or unsuitable for wet cleaning, and we may refuse to clean them if we believe the risk of harm is too high.
It is your responsibility to remove small personal items, secure pets, and ensure that children and other occupants are kept away from work areas and any equipment while we are operating. You should also make sure that the electricity, water supply and any required ventilation are available unless we have agreed otherwise. If you fail to meet these responsibilities, the service may be delayed, reduced or cancelled, and any resulting costs may be charged to you.
We may take reasonable steps to protect floors, furniture and fittings, but you should be aware that minor disturbance, moisture transfer or temporary odour may occur as part of normal cleaning. Drying times vary according to temperature, fabric type, humidity and ventilation. You should avoid walking on cleaned areas until they are sufficiently dry and follow any reasonable aftercare instructions we provide at the end of the visit. Failure to do so may reduce the quality or durability of the result.
Liability and Limitations
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law. Subject to that, our liability for loss or damage arising from the service is limited to the amount paid, or payable, for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We do not accept responsibility for indirect, consequential or economic losses such as loss of income, loss of business, loss of opportunity or inconvenience, except where such exclusion is not permitted by law.
We are not liable for pre-existing damage, hidden defects, structural weakness, unsuitable materials, colour loss, shrinkage, fibre distortion, water marking or deterioration that occurs because of the age or condition of an item. We are also not liable where damage results from information withheld by the customer, failure to follow aftercare advice, the presence of substandard previous treatments, or the inherent risks of cleaning certain fabrics and carpets. In particular, some stains may permanently alter the colour or texture of fibres, even after professional treatment.
If you believe damage has occurred, you must notify us within a reasonable time and provide clear evidence of the issue, including photographs if available. We may inspect the item, request further information and consider whether the damage is linked directly to our work. Any claim will be assessed fairly and in accordance with applicable law. Where we accept responsibility, we may choose to repair, re-clean, compensate or otherwise resolve the matter in a reasonable way.
Waste Regulations and Environmental Handling
We operate in accordance with applicable UK waste and environmental requirements. Waste water, used consumables, packaging and removed debris will be handled responsibly and disposed of in a lawful manner where disposal is our responsibility. Where the service produces waste material that must be managed specially, we will take reasonable steps to prevent pollution, contamination or unsafe discharge. The customer must not request us to dispose of prohibited items unlawfully or to bypass any legal disposal process.
Any items identified as potentially hazardous, contaminated or unsuitable for ordinary disposal may require special handling, and we may decline to remove or treat them if doing so would create a risk to health, safety or the environment. The customer must tell us about any contamination, pet waste, mould, chemical residues or other unusual conditions before the appointment. If specialist disposal or protective measures are needed, additional charges may apply and the service may be limited to what can be completed safely.
We aim to use cleaning products and methods that are appropriate for the task and, where practical, reduce unnecessary waste. Any packaging, empty containers, cloths, filters or related materials generated in the course of our work remain our responsibility unless otherwise agreed. The customer must not interfere with our lawful disposal arrangements, and we are not responsible for waste already present at the property unless we have expressly agreed to remove it as part of the service.
Force Majeure, Changes and General Provisions
We are not liable for failure to perform or delay in performing our obligations where the delay or failure arises from events beyond our reasonable control. These may include severe weather, flood, fire, industrial action, transport disruption, supply shortages, government restrictions, utility failures, accidents, acts of terrorism, civil unrest or similar events. If such an event occurs, we will try to resume service as soon as reasonably possible.
We may update the scope of our services, our operational methods or these terms where necessary for legal, commercial or practical reasons. Any change will apply from the date stated in the revised version and will not affect a booking already accepted unless required by law or agreed with you. If any part of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder will continue in full force.
Failure by us to enforce any right under these terms does not mean we waive that right. Any waiver must be in writing to be effective. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under the booking to another person without our consent. These terms represent the entire agreement between the customer and St Johns Wood Carpet Cleaners for the relevant service, unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. By booking our services, you agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, claim or matter arising from or relating to these terms, the booking process, the service itself or any associated invoice or cancellation fee.
The customer confirms that they are entering into this agreement voluntarily and with authority to do so. If you are booking on behalf of another person, business, landlord, letting agent or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that party to these terms. Any notice or communication under these terms may be given in writing by the means used for the booking or any other reasonable method previously agreed.
This agreement is intended to be clear, lawful and commercially fair. It protects both the customer and St Johns Wood Carpet Cleaners by setting out expectations in advance and ensuring that each cleaning appointment is carried out on a transparent basis. If you proceed with a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions in full.
